At Amber Valley Dental Practice, based in Swanwick, Alfreton, our dental membership plans are designed to help patients spread the cost of routine private dental care. They can be a practical option for patients who want regular check-ups, hygiene appointments and peace of mind when it comes to their oral health.

Whether you live in Swanwick, Alfreton, Somercotes, South Normanton, Riddings, Pinxton, Leabrooks, Ripley or the surrounding Amber Valley area, our friendly team is here to help you understand your options.

Why More Patients Are Considering Dental Membership Plans

Many patients want to attend the dentist regularly but prefer to avoid paying separately for every routine appointment. Others may be finding it difficult to access regular NHS dental care and are looking for a private option that feels manageable and straightforward.

A dental membership plan can help by spreading the cost of routine private care into monthly payments. Instead of waiting until there is a problem, membership encourages regular attendance, prevention and early advice.

This can be especially useful if you want:

  • Regular dental check-ups
  • Routine hygiene appointments
  • More predictable monthly costs
  • A preventive approach to your dental health
  • Access to private dental care
  • A simple way to stay on top of your appointments

Dental membership plans are not just about convenience. They are about building good habits and helping patients look after their oral health before small problems become bigger ones.

What Is a Dental Membership Plan?

A dental membership plan is a monthly private dental care plan. It usually includes routine appointments such as dental examinations and hygiene visits, depending on the plan you choose.

The main purpose of a membership plan is to make regular dental care easier to manage. Rather than paying for each routine visit separately, you pay a monthly amount and attend your planned appointments throughout the year.

At Amber Valley Dental Practice, membership plans are designed to support preventive care. This means helping you maintain healthy teeth and gums, identify problems early and reduce the risk of needing more complex treatment in the future.

What Is Included in Our Dental Membership Plans?

Our dental membership plans are designed for patients who want regular private dental care at Amber Valley Dental Practice.

Depending on the plan you choose, your membership may include:

  • Routine dental examinations
  • Hygiene appointments
  • Preventive advice

  • Discounts on selected treatments
  • Worldwide dental emergency assistance

We currently offer membership options, with plans designed to suit different levels of routine care.

  • 4 hygiene appointments per year
  • 10% discount on selected treatments
  • Worldwide dental emergency assistance

A small joining fee may apply.

Please contact the practice or visit our membership plans page for the latest details, as plan fees and benefits may change from time to time.

Is a Membership Plan the Same as NHS Dentistry?

No. A dental membership plan is not the same as NHS dentistry.

NHS dental care is provided under NHS arrangements and charges. A dental membership plan is a private arrangement designed to help patients spread the cost of routine private dental care.

However, for patients who are struggling to access regular NHS appointments or who would prefer the flexibility of private care, a membership plan can be a helpful alternative.

At Amber Valley Dental Practice, we provide both NHS and private dental care. However, like many dental practices, NHS capacity can be limited and our NHS list may be full at times. If you are unsure what options are available, our reception team can advise you when you contact the practice.

Why Regular Dental Check-Ups Matter

Regular dental check-ups are important because many dental problems are easier to treat when they are found early.

During a routine examination, your dentist can check for signs of:

  • Tooth decay
  • Gum disease
  • Cracked or worn teeth
  • Failing fillings
  • Infection
  • Oral health changes
  • Bite problems
  • Early signs of more serious concerns

Even if your teeth feel fine, a dental check-up can identify issues before they become painful or more complex.

Regular visits also give you the chance to ask questions, discuss any concerns and receive tailored advice on how to care for your teeth at home.

Why Hygiene Appointments Are Important

Hygiene appointments play an important role in keeping your gums healthy.

Even with good brushing, plaque and tartar can build up in areas that are difficult to clean at home. Over time, this can contribute to gum inflammation, bleeding gums, bad breath and gum disease.

A hygiene appointment can help by:

  • Removing plaque and tartar build-up
  • Supporting gum health
  • Helping to prevent gum disease
  • Improving oral hygiene habits
  • Giving personalised cleaning advice
  • Helping your mouth feel fresher and cleaner

For many patients, regular hygiene appointments are one of the most valuable parts of a dental membership plan.

Who Might Benefit from a Dental Membership Plan?

A dental membership plan may be suitable for many different types of patients.

You may benefit from joining a plan if you:

  • Want regular private dental check-ups
  • Would like routine hygiene appointments included
  • Prefer predictable monthly payments
  • Want to reduce the chance of dental problems being missed
  • Have not attended the dentist for a while and want to get back into a routine
  • Want a preventive approach to dental care
  • Are looking for a private dentist in Swanwick or Alfreton
  • Want an alternative route to regular routine dental care

Membership plans can be especially useful for patients who want to feel organised about their dental care and avoid only visiting the dentist when something hurts.

Can You Still Have Other Treatments on a Membership Plan?

Yes. Being on a dental membership plan does not stop you from having other dental treatments.

If you need or choose additional treatment, your dentist will explain your options clearly before anything goes ahead. This may include treatments such as:

  • Fillings
  • Crowns
  • Bridges
  • Dentures
  • Teeth whitening
  • Invisalign
  • Composite bonding
  • Dental implants
  • Emergency dental care

Depending on your plan, you may also receive a discount on selected treatments. Our team can explain what is included and what would be charged separately.

Membership Plans and Cosmetic Dentistry

Some patients join a membership plan because they want to keep their teeth healthy before considering cosmetic treatment.

Good oral health is an important foundation for treatments such as teeth whitening, Invisalign, composite bonding and dental implants. Regular check-ups and hygiene appointments can help ensure your teeth and gums are in a healthier position before cosmetic or advanced treatment is planned.

If you are interested in improving your smile, your dentist can discuss suitable options during your appointment and advise you on the best order of treatment.

A Friendly Dental Practice for Nervous Patients

We understand that some patients feel nervous about visiting the dentist. Others may feel embarrassed because they have not attended for some time.

At Amber Valley Dental Practice, our approach is friendly, calm and supportive. We will listen to your concerns, explain what we are doing and help you feel as comfortable as possible.

Joining a membership plan can also help nervous patients build a regular routine, rather than waiting until a dental problem becomes urgent or painful.

If you feel anxious about visiting the dentist, please let our team know when booking your appointment.
